About The Giants

Established in 2005, the Concord Giants have been a cornerstone of the local community, a bastion of sportsmanship, and a loving home for the game.

Our History

Originally the Concord Cats Football Club, the club was established in 2005. It began with a single Auskick team of just 11 players. In 2013, a strategic decision led to rebranding as the Concord GIANTS, aligning with the GWS GIANTS. This move doubled the club's size in one season, earning it the 'Best Sydney Club' award.

That same year, a joint venture with Drummoyne Power formed the Canada Bay Cannons, creating a pathway for older players. By 2016, St Lukes Oval was redeveloped as the club's new home ground, first used in the 2017 season.

Our Volunteers

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Concord GIANTS. As a community club run by the community, for the community, we are 100% reliant on volunteers to coach and manage our teams, and to provide all the administration functions necessary to run a thriving junior AFL club. We appreciate all our volunteers, but some go ‘above and beyond’ and are recognised for their contributions.

The Darren Mackie Clubperson of the Year Award honours a significant contributor each season, reflecting the tireless efforts of a man who put the Concord Giants first. His title of Ground Manager and later Secretary belied his true contribution. Darren died suddenly in 2011, and this award commemorates his legacy.
